Atlanta, GA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Joe Johnson scored nine of his 24 points in
overtime, sparking the Atlanta Hawks to a 106-102 victory over the streaking
Milwaukee Bucks.
Josh Smith totaled 22 points, 15 rebounds and six assists, while Al Horford
added 17 points and 10 boards for the Hawks, who were coming off a 111-103
overtime loss to the Mavericks on Friday.
John Salmons ended with a season-high 32 points to go with eight rebounds for
the Bucks, who had been 6-0 since acquiring the streaky shooting guard from
Chicago on February 18.
Jerry Stackhouse came off the bench and scored 20 points, while Andrew Bogut
chipped in 14 points, nine rebounds and four blocks for Milwaukee, which was
trying to win seven straight on the road for the first time since the
1984-1985 season.
Luke Ridnour started the extra frame with a three-pointer and Salmons added a
fadeaway jumper for a 97-92 Bucks lead.
Atlanta scored the next nine points, as Smith drove the lane for a layup, and
Johnson followed with a three-pointer and a make from the left elbow.
Johnson capped to 9-0 flurry with a fallaway from the right baseline for a
101-97 lead with 1:14 to play. Ridnour answered with a floater, but Salmons
missed a 19-footer and a contested layup the next time down.
Two Johnson free throws with 12.5 seconds on the clock made it a two-
possession game, and Salmons made things interesting with a quick three.
Jamal Crawford pushed the lead back to three with two free throws with 9.4
left, and Salmons' attempt from the left wing failed to hit the rim,
essentially ending the game.
Stackhouse's reverse layup gave the Bucks their biggest lead of the game,
89-82, with 4:15 remaining in regulation.
Horford brought the Hawks closer with a three-point play and two free throws,
and Crawford added two more at the line for a one-point game with 2:34 to go.
It stayed that way until Bogut's hook shot in the lane fell through with 78
seconds on the clock. Crawford followed with a pair from the foul line, and
Stackhouse missed a three from the left wing.
Johnson missed a contented runner in the lane, and Salmons was fouled going
after the loose ball, though he made just 1-of-2 from the stripe.
Johnson made amends the next time down, hitting a baseline jumper with 32.1
seconds on the clock to tie it following Smith's offensive rebound.
Bogut then lost his footing on the right block, and Atlanta corralled his ill-
fated attempt and called timeout with 19.6 left.
After a short stoppage to fix the game clock, Johnson couldn't shake Salmons
at the top of the key, leading to a missed 18-footer to send the game to OT.
Milwaukee erased an early 10-point deficit when Stackhouse capped a 13-0 run
with a jumper for a 20-16 lead with 2 1/2 minutes left in the opening quarter.
It was tied, 24-24, after 12 minutes, and the Bucks took a slim 46-44 lead
into the locker room after another 12.
A back-and-fourth third quarter ended with the Hawks up one, 74-73.
